LEED in the Local News

cartoon-news-jpegI’ve seen leed eb come up a lot lately in the news. I can’t believe I’m hearing more and more about it, but I guess that’s the way it goes when the government is pushing for a much more environmentally friendly society. Good thing there is a leed exam that you can take to help prove your ability to understand what it means to be LEED. With solar panels, and windmills being installed in more and more states, it is only a matter of time before we start recognizing that the housing industry is finally changing. This change is good though because this change enables us to become better communities that are concerned for our environment. It is a way for maintaining a sense of responsibility for our actions.

Luckily, the usgbc gives the necessary advice to really help move companies along with the new standards. I just ran across the government site the other day, and I found a lot of useful information about the standards. It is very important that these standards are in place, and that we use them to the best of our ability. We can grow a lot from maintaining a common idea system, especially when it comes to expanding our cities and communities.

I think that over time there will be more demand for environmentally-friendly construction. Ideally, this will come via the free market instead of government mandates.
