The Volume and Speed of a Scanner

There are two things that you should look for when you are buying a document scanner. The first thing that you want to look for is a document scanner that is able to provide you with the scanning volume that you need. The second thing that you should look for is a document scanner that is fast enough to get the jobs done as quickly as you need to get them done. In general, a higher volume scanner is also going to be a faster scanner.
How do you know if you should be looking at high volume scanners or low volume scanners? The basic rule of thumb is that if multiple employees use your scanner on a daily basis for large projects then you need a high volume scanner. If you only use a document scanner now and then and the jobs that you do don’t need to be completed quickly then a low volume scanner will do. If your needs fall somewhere in the middle then you should look at mid-volume document scanners.
How do you know which volume a scanner is? The specifics vary by manufacturer but you can follow some general guidelines. A high volume scanner can scan around 100,000 pages per day at over 85 pages per minute. A low volume scanner scans between 1000 and 2000 pages per day at close to 35 pages per minute. And of course the mid-level scanner is between these two in terms of both volume and speed. Look at those guidelines when buying your scanner.
