A New Rewarding Job

With a weakening economy spreading across the country, I like many Americans found myself suddenly without a job and starting to lose money fast.  I have a background in retail sale but finding a job in the field proved harder than expected.  So, I stumbled upon an unlikely position in the telemarketing field.

After applying for the job, I was told I would first go through a stint of telemarketing consulting in order to sufficiently train.  The training session focused on the importance of customer service and how to handle awkward customers over the phone.  I found I learned a lot throughout the session, especially with tips on how to turn around a conversation that could potentially lose the company a sale.  I did start to worry that the job would become mundane if I was to simply be on the phone with customers all day, but my apprehension was soon put aside.  I learned of an outsource telesales component to my company.  This allowed me to focus on other projects while a professional team of individuals would devote their time to specifically dealing with customers.

I now work full time for this inside sales company and find the job more rewarding than retail ever was.  While my goal is still to sell a product, I am constantly working to be better and more efficient at what I do.  I rarely speak with customers face to face, but I meet new people each month at training sessions that are set up to constantly help our company improve.
