My web designer is also a medical student.  Odd combination, isn’t it?  But I guess there is something appealing to her in both of those things, or she wouldn’t be doing both!

Anyway, she is almost done with med school, so I asked her, What now?  She told me that she is hoping to eventually get to a place where she can have her own practice, but I guess that’s easier said than done.  There are all kinds of things you have to think about, such as getting physician disability insurance to protect you from losing your income from an illness or accident that prevents you from working.  Long term disability insurance is really important for doctors who have their own practices, but I guess the disability insurance companies can be difficult to deal with, so it’s easier to get quotes online from a third-party website.

My web designer is really looking forward to it, however, despite all of the complications.  I guess it must be well worth the time and effort and money spent in order to be a doctor, because a lot of people go that route!
