I have to admit that I’m a little bit in love with language. I love the way that some words just roll off of your tongue. Supercilious is an example of a really great word that I love to say even though I don’t get much reason to say it. There’s always a flip side to love affairs, though, isn’t there? In this case it’s those words that are just really ugly to say. Heinous is a word that I just really don’t like the sound of it.

What interests me most are those words that are somewhat difficult to pronounce but that still sound interesting or appealing. I was just reading about Banff National Park which is located in Banff Canada. Banff is an example of one of those really interesting words. You don’t ever really see the double f together like that so trying to figure out how to pronounce that one feels a bit weird on the tongue. And yet it sounds good after it comes out.

It’s fascinating that words can be attractive or unattractive to us in this way. I guess it’s good that I find them so interesting since I make my living as a writer!
