Accidental Discharge

The other evening I was cleaning my hand gun, a very nice Colt 1911, the exact same way as I always have. It’s really no big deal, and I could probably even do it blind folded by now. I have never had any problem handling guns, have my concealed carry permit, and I would definitely consider myself a safe gun owner. This is a gun however that I keep locked and loaded in a nightstand in my bedroom.
Unfortunately, this time when I chambered the round, the gun went off. My finger was not on the trigger or anything. But when the slide closed, it definitely fired. And firing guns within Los Angeles city limits is very illegal. It didn’t take the cops long to show up. I explained the situation expecting to get a good scolding, but instead I was hauled off to jail!
Well here it is closing in on midnight, and I don’t really want to hang out in jail, so my wife leapt into action. She looked up California bail bonds and found a Los Angeles bail bonds agent to help get me out of this pickle. I am so happy that these bail bonds people are open 24 hours a day! The whole thing took a lot longer than I would have liked, but these jails get so backed up with their paperwork and all that I just had to be patient. Fortunately I was out fairly early the next morning. Needless to say, that gun is taking a trip to the gunsmith!
