My 29th Birthday

sushiYesterday I turned 29.  Everyone has been asking me how I feel about being a year away from 30, and I have to say I don’t even think about it (or wouldn’t if people would stop asking me!).  Just a few weeks ago I had an older woman ask what high school I go to, so I’m not really worried about aging — and I really wish everyone would stop acting like it’s a big deal.

Anyway, I always love my birthday, and this one was no less fun than past years.  On Friday my mom and I went out to lunch and went shopping.  Birthday luck was with me, because I found a nightstand to match our bedroom furniture, something I’d been looking for since last summer.  We’d found one for my husband’s side of the bed way back then, but it’s taken a while to find another in the same style.

On Sunday, my actual birthday, hubby and I went out to dinner to get my favorite food — sushi — at my favorite Japanese restaurant.  It’s a tradition that we follow every year, and it makes me look forward to my birthday that much more!

Hubby’s birthday isn’t until November, but I still ought to start brainstorming for present ideas.  Men can be so difficult to shop for, even when you know them well!  He likes target practice and grew up shooting, even though he doesn’t like to hunt, so maybe an airsoft gun would be a good gift idea.  I’ve heard Echo1 airsoft guns look just like the real thing.

But I’m not going to worry about it just yet — right now I still deserve a chance to enjoy the afterglow from MY birthday!

Happy birthday! I always go out for sushi on my birthday too — it’s my favorite! And don’t worry, 30 isn’t that bad. A lot of people say their 30s are the best years of their lives!

Guys are usually easy to shop for. Just get them some grown-up toys or some new gadget and they will be happy for hours. My husband would probably love one of those guns too!
