SAFE mortgage licensing the new standard

My mother-in-law has worked in the mortgage industry for about 25 years now. Even though I’ve only been married to her daughter for 15, I’ve heard tons about the changes occurring in her day to day operations. Mortgage education is probably at the forefront of most conversations when we go over to visit.

It only takes me 2 or 3 times of making a mistake to really have the lesson sink in, so when I started to make jokes during her discussion of safe mortgage licensing, I knew that I had a very small window before I’d no longer be safe myself!

In all fairness, it has actually served us well to hear about the newest industry regulations whether they are imposed by the government or the financial companies are attempting stricter self rule. This country simply could not continue down the path it was headed and hope to remain a solvent, independent world power.

Now, when the mother-in-law invites us over, I know, in advance that I am going to learn something valuable about what is going on in this country, at least in her part of it. What would really be fantastic is if she put the same fervor into learning new cooking techniques.

But that’s another story!
