Trying to Get Back to Sleep

I hate waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep!  Usually I’m so blessed with the ability to sleep through anything.  It’s been years since I had a hard time getting to sleep or staying sleep — since I was in high school, basically.

I guess sleep disorders, particularly insomnia, are pretty common among college students.  If you watch the video below, I’m not sure whether they are saying that students’ wild schedules are a contributor, or the levels of stress they experience — or both.  I’m sure drug abuse doesn’t help either.

I wonder how many students are also dealing with sleep apnea.  This is a condition that is often not caught because you have to actually sleep with someone in order for them to realize what is going on, as it doesn’t actually wake you up when you stop breathing during the night.  And heaven knows, sleeping with a CPAP mask and other CPAP supplies would probably be considered pretty dorky, so even if kids have been diagnosed, will they continue their treatment?

Well, my midnight wanderings online have been, er, illuminating — but it’s time for me to try to get back to sleep!

I can feel for you regarding having trouble sleeping. I’ve had issues falling asleep and staying asleep for years now. I have discovered that having a routine prior to going to bed can help, in addition to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, avoiding caffeinated foods, and recently discovered a sleep supplement you might be interested in from Pure Matters. I’m still in the process of trying it out, but it looks promising.
