Traveling

Call me crazy, but sometimes when I travel, if there is enough room in my luggage, I pack my own bedding.  Yes, it’s true, I am a comfort snob.  It seems that many of the hotel or resort beds are comfortable enough when staying at a decent property (like a Ritz, Four Seasons, or even some Westin properties), but I am not always satisfied with the thread count of the linens they choose to use.

I suggest to the magazine editors of the work to rank resorts based on their linen comfort.  In addition to listing resort amenities like spa, golf, and kid’s club, magazine such as Travel and Leisure or Conde Nast should have a bedding category to rate properties on their thread count and use of Egyptian cotton.  That would make me happy!

Some of the worst nights of sleep I have had have been when traveling, and sleeping in a bed comprised of scratchy sheets.  There is nothing worse than rolling over in the middle of the night and feeling the rub of some cotton blend claw at your back like a set of cat paws.  I believe that on a few occasions, I may have even woken with sheet abrasions on my shoulder and elbow.   Now you can understand why I pack my own bedding.

I cant believe you pack your own bedding when you travel. I have never heard of anyone doing this. I think it is a pretty good idea. I just saw a special on the news about hotels and how they never clean. It was so gross. I think the next time i travel I am going to bring my own EVERYTHING!

My mom packs her own bedding when she travels. Our family used to think she was so weird but I understand why she does it. When I travel on buisness I need to get the best sleep possible and being in an uncomfortable bed doesnt help at all. I have never taken my own bedding but I think I will try it one time.

I work at a hotel and I never knew people brought their own bedding to a hotel. I have never heard of someone that needs their own bedding where ever they go. It seems kind of childish and isnt it expenisve to have that much extra luggage?

Wouldnt that be alot of extra luggage. Traveling is so expensive right now, I just could not immagine bringing so much extra stuff that you dont really need. I dont think I will ever bring my own bedding on a trip but who knows?!?!

I love my sheets on my bed and I couldnt imagine sleeping in anything but my sheets. I am going on a trip in about a month and I dont know what I am going to do. I never thought about bringing my bedding with me. I will see how much other stuff I have and If I have enough room Ill bring my bedding. Thanks for the idea.

I think hotels should be ranked on their linen comforts. I have to be able sleep when I can on buisness trips and if I dont have a confortable bed I wont sleep. I am going to try and bring my own bedding so I will feel more at home.

I cant believe you take your bedding with you when you go on a trip. I think that is so crazy. How much exrta do you have to pay when you check your luggage at the airport. I think people should be able to handle not having their own bedding for a few days, but that is just me.

I think this is a very good idea. I can never sleep in a hotel. I am going to try and bring my bedding from home and see if this helps. Thanks for the idea!!
