Using Up That Energy

One of the big challenges of being a Cub Scout leader is finding games that that will help burn off the steam that those little guys seem to store up. Fortunately there are lots of games and scout activities that will use that pent up energy.
One of the obvious games would be tag. Obviously this is one of those games that is better to play outdoors than indoors! It never gets old to the kids though, and boy is it a quick one to get the kids tuckered out.
Another fun one is steal the bacon or capture the flag. It’s the same game, just with different names. That’s the one where the kids are separated into to groups and then each child in each group is assigned a corresponding number. When a number is called the corresponding children race towards the flag or bacon (usually a hand towel) and try to get it before their opponent does. Then they have to race back to their starting point without dropping the towel or having it taken away from them.
When I run out of ideas I usually turn to the ever trusty internet. If you are looking for a scout website out there, you’ll find several that have all kinds of activities to choose from.
